Suzanne Paulin, '85

This is a story that made many in our class pause for a moment of breath. Saturday night, after eating, I'm walking around the tables for unfound classmates and had just been nabbed by Annette Troha, so I'd taken her picture and we're chatting for a moment, and this "young girl" comes up and asks if the vacant seats were being used. They didn't want the seats, but needed the sliverware for their table. Annette let them have the tableware, but in my curiosity I asked her, "Are you an alumi from Madrid/Torrejón High School?"

Suzanne took a momenet from her silverware raid to tell me that she graduated in the class of '85 from Torrejón High School, and that her father had become the biology teacher shortly after we graduated. She was born at Torrejón AB hospital, went to school and graduated all in the same place. I calculated later that Suzanne must have been born about two years after our class graduated.

Most of us spent all or part of our high school years in a school at a base that is now nothing but memories. Suzanne spent her entire young life there. So, for Suzanne, and others like her, we dedicate this story.
